Grand Bassin also known as Ganga Talao is the most sacred Hindu destination in Mauritius. Situated at an altitude of about 1800 feet above sea level, there is a temple dedicated to lord Shiva including other Gods like Hanuman, Lakshmi etc. Shivratri is the main festival of the temple when folks in a huge crowd walk bare feet from their homes to the lake.
