Description
The Sanctuary of the Athena at Delphi is an important archaeological site which is home to some of the most picturesque ruins of this place. It contains the mysterious Tholos, a 4th century-BC rotunda. Dedicated to Athena, this site has been revered since the Mycenaean times. The sacred precinct dedicated to Athena is roughly rectangular in shape, with the entrance at the east end. Most of the structures are the ruined foundations and fallen fragments, including two successive temples of Athena. The eastern part of the sanctuary is the oldest, where the remains of a Mycenaean settlement were discovered. This is the same spot where the Old Temple of Athena was built during 5th century BC. Made of tufa, it was a Doric peripheral hexa-style building. The central area of the sanctuary has three building: a Doric treasury made of marble on a limestone foundation, the fine Aeolian Treasury of Massalia of Parian marble, and the Tholos. The Tholas is a very popular monument and is a kind of temple with 20 columns in a circle with a diameter of 14.76m and has 10 columns in the interior. The west end of the precinct has the new temple of Athena, built around 360 BC. It was a pro-style temple with a portico of 6 Doric columns. To the Northwest of the sanctuary lies the ruins of a gymnasium built in the 4th century BC and rebuilt by the Romans.

Golden triangle was helpful for us to visit three different destinations in three states of India with cultural differences. It was my honeymoon trip & we booked it from Antilog vacations. We enjoyed rickshaw ride in Delhi & visited Chandni Chowk, Red fort, Jama Masjid & Qutub Minar. Taj Mahal visit was a wonderful Honeymoon gift for both of us, we spent half of our day at Taj Mahal. We were surprised by flower decoration & Honeymoon cake with royal treatment at Jaipur.

We organized a family trip for a week; it was a tour of Delhi Agra & Jaipur. This was a leisure trip for the elders but at the same time educational trip for the Children. At Delhi we visited Qutub Minar, Lotus Temple, India Gate, Red fort & Akshardham Temple. Then we went to Agra there we visited Agra fort & Taj Mahal. On the way to Jaipur we also visited Fatehpur Sikari. Our last two days of the tour were in Jaipur, there we visited hawa mahal. Pink city, Jal Mahal & Amer fort. This tour was the result of Antilog Vacations tour planning. Thanks to Antilog for such a wonderful trip.
