OVERVIEW

A few miles from Port Blair is the Ross Island, once an administrative center for the Britishers, before a volcanic activity disturbed the Island in 1941. The British then left the island and took settlement at Port Blair, since then the Island could never improve from this dwindling and neglect which had set in.

DESCRIPTION

Slowly and securely, the nature grabbed its peal, as banyan trees engulfed the buildings thus substituting the arrangements formed by man. This island makes you wistful and takes you back in time when this was a governmental settlement for the Britishers. The Indian Navy has recreated some of the ancient structures like the bakery and the local stores, from where reminders are available.
